PROJECT MANAGER

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include managing projects of varied nature on commercial, institutional and/or residential properties that may include a combination of building conservation (exterior alterations, building envelope repairs, etc.), adaptive reuse (interior and exterior alterations) and/or rehabilitation (interior alterations). The position requires working directly with the firm's Principal to establish design criteria, and to ensure compliance with zoning and building codes, as well as with established Historic Preservation intervention principles for historic properties. The Project Manager will also work with the staff to track project quality and conformance with the client's program, budget, schedule and expectations. Other responsibilities include overseeing the development of existing conditions assessments and preparation of Construction Documents for regulatory filing, review and approval; communicating professionally, thoroughly and articulately with clients, consultants and staff; managing project team and team members’ workload, resource allocation and priorities; ensuing quality and consistency through all deliverables; as well as monitoring project finances and schedule to ensure all submissions are issued on-budget and on-time.

Qualifications: An understanding of historic materials and assemblies, as well as their decay pattern and the ability to detail and specify the required repairs is required. Experience with renovation and exterior repairs on existing buildings is required, including submission to, and approval by NYC LPC and DOB. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment coupled with substantial experience in all aspects of Construction Administration, including site observations; managing contractor submittals and RFIs is essential. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while responding timely to deadlines is expected. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven applicant with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage in-house production while focusing on clients' needs and firm's efficiency. The ideal candidate would have an architectural degree and/or a M Sc in Historic Preservation or related field, as well as a minimum of ten (10) years of previous experience working in the architecture / historic preservation fields. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office is required. Architectural registration (a license or completion of some of the ARE exams) is a must.

Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
